ISS as an APRS Digipeater

John, VK4JWG is using APRS via ISS on his travels in outback Australia.

 

The map shows you the position of VK4JWG and ISS when he transmitted the posits.

In the raw data you can see his packet was digipeated via ISS and received by the APRS SatGate VK3JFK-4

ISS passes over Australia 6 times every 24 hours which means there are plenty of opportunities to provide reliable communications back to an SatGate.
